I HEART nerds and stuff

Trade the Spanx for Spandex.
Grab a can of hair spray.
&
Pile up in mom's car.

We are going back . . . .
WAY BACK
TO THE HIGH SCHOOL YEARS
and I'm not talking about High School Musical

high school was never THAT cheesy!

Watching Big Brother this season got me to thinking . . .
(uh oh, that's dangerous)
This year it is based on "cliques" like in highschool.

Blogging is a lot like highschool in this way.

Of course, instead of the Cheerleaders/Homecoming queens -vs- the Nerds/Offbeats.
It is more like the Crunchy moms -vs- Non Crunchy Moms or the Bottle feeding Moms -vs- Breastfeeding Moms etc.
or
the I'm supermom hear me ROAR group -vs- the I'm just a supermom in training, hear me cry group
the "I have over 5 billion followers" group -vs- the "I only have 134 followers" (woe is me) group

Don't even get me started on stats.
It's sad when a blogger with such HIGH rankings can't take the time to visit one of his/ her followers because they are less of a page rank or have a lower alexa rating.

YEP, that happens.

Sure, we generally flock to blogs that are similar to our own or that we have something in common with.
There's nothing at all wrong with that but why not spread your wings and fly around a little.
Don't you get tired of sitting in one place ALL.THE.TIME?
and here's a little secret . . .
It's ok to be seen on one of those OTHER BLOGS or Tweet one of those OTHER tweeters.

It's not like someone is gonna go all CRAZY upside your head because you leave their blog every now and again.

Cliques are everywhere on the net.
I was on twitter one day this week and saw this tweet :
@SugarKisses Do you ever feel like you're invisible to people? I join social networks/mom communities and when I post nobody bothers to respond.

Yep, been there.
You post a question or something PRETTY DARN cool only for it to be pushed to the very bottom of the page (no views and no comments).
But Smartypants Suzie posts and EVERYONE runs to give her a high-five or rather a "LOL, You are DA BOMB GIRL".
I see it all.the.time.
(of course it doesn't happen to ME now cuz I am like TOTALLY aWeSoMe and cOoL)
:COUGH:
:SNORT:

IT'S.OK.TO.SOCIALIZE.WITH.SOMEONE.NEW.
It really is.
I promise!

Of course, there will always be someone MORE popular . . .
BUT
We are bloggers not celebrities.
Support one another, YO?
And for the love of cupcakes, Don't ask what someone's stats are. Geesh!
Stats have nothing to do with friendships!
* Plus, IT'S TACKY*

Before you leave be sure to tell me which clique you belonged to in highschool.
like my light saber?

I've got much love for the nerds . . .
I married a HUNKY one!

I like knowing that most of my blog followers are my good friends and family, but it's always interesting to learn about the random people that have found my blog. I was the drill team nerd in hs, sorority girl in college that married the frat guy(computer geek at heart). Don't you love BB now that they got rid of the cliches?? I already did hs, don't want to do it again!

Ha ha. I love Big Brother too. I definitely consider myself at the very bottom of the blog totem poll, so I don't really have any idea of all that stuff going on. I'm sure it does and all I can say is LAME.

I was a volleyball player who got good grades, and I married a skater who didn't get good grades and smoked pot through at least 2 years of h/s. Glad we've grown up! =)
Happy to be a tiny blog with a handful of followers/friends/family and not involved in the drama... Can't we all just get along?

I was one of those people who never really fit in with any of the cliques...I had a few friends in many of them, but didn't belong....

My group of good friends were all misfits...none of us really had anything in common other than the fact that we didn't fit anywhere else...LOL

I so can relate. There times I feel like I am invisible. Especially at a twitter party. I feel like I Have the plague or something. No I don't always have something witty to say. It just depends on the mood I am in. LOL I Loved this post. That tweet you came across I can so relate!! I love seeing other blogs. I comment and sometimes they don't bother following. Oh well I just keep trucking. Hope you have a great weekend!

I may visit some of the same people because I like to see what they are up to. I am not really sure what group I was in high school. We had such a big school everyone went there own ways. I was a social bug.

Following your wonderful blog!

First and foremost, I love me some Big Brother. Have the feeds and watch them as often as I can. {Translation - I have to wait until 11pm when everyone is asleep - stay up WAY too late and end up being exhausted the entire season!} haha

I left several groups and even removed Entrecard and the like because I quickly realized it is all about cliques and gaining followers who really care nothing about what you or your blog.

Life is too complicated already - no need to messy up my blog life. {Sad I even think I have a blog life!!}

As always, thanks for stopping by. You always leave the sweetest comments.

Have a great weekend!

You're so right and wise. Can I be your band geek stalker? Actually I was the high school dance team captain who later joined the geek squad and married an I.T. nerd. :-) I know exactly what you mean. I try to branch out to new places and to at least visit the few sites of comments I receive. Honestly though, isn't having a close, small tight-knit family of bloggers better than 1,000 or more that never leave you any love. Just sayin' is all.

Keep being honest and real. I adore you.

I am LOL!!!!!! You are so right! I did a post about this not too long ago. It KILLS me! What I can't get over.. is.. what is so special about "her" blog?.. ok,.. so she makes more money,.. drives a nicer car, buys expensive clothes, takes "more frequent & nicer trips than I do, has a nanny & a house keeper and STAYS at home to blog about all that stuff!! BIG WHOOP!

So.. I don't do that.. & you guessed it.. my stats are low! lol! But, I have to think about why I blog...for family, for spread the word for Christ, & to meet new friends who actually CARE.
;)
okay.. sorry. nuff venting!
You got me started girl!!!
I heart nerds too, but, in school.. I loved everybody. I was..neutral.

HATE the "invisible" feeling. :( Thanks for the post!

I was kind of like Chris in HS I had a lot of friends in several different groups, but I never really "fit" in any of them. I kinda danced to my own drum, LOL.
I was a band nerd as a freshman, an athlete as a soph./junior and a cheerleader as a senior.

I'm in pretty much the same clique in blogging that I was in high school - casual friends with the cheerleaders AND the nerds, mostly because I do so little to make any kind of waves. This often translates into it's own kind of invisibility. I sent out a tweet this week that said: "Repeat after me: I am not nobody." It was so sweet - three blogging friends tweeted me back some really encouraging words. And it was all because I was feeling like The Invisible Blogger in the first place. I liked this post a lot - thanks for the thoughts.

Well said.

It does feel like high school around the blogosphere a lot of the time.

i married a nerd/computer geek too!! and he's so cool! :)
i never fit into a certain "clique" i just hung out with lots of different people...but i was a total nerd...loved to do my homework and got straight a's hahaha! college was such a different story!!

I just adore this post and you are so right. I found myself in the routine of visiting the same blogs over and over so what did I do? Cleaned out my google reader and started fresh. Now I randomly add new people, visit them for the month and start over with a new batch.

Oh and I have NO IDEA where I fit in when it came to high school. I just hung out with everyone and worried about keeping my straight A's....all so I could graduate and be a mom. LOL

darn, i was one of the nerds way back in high school. hahaha! :)

I don't visit those uber popular sites where I know the blogger will never visit me back.
And I was a geek in high school. Still am:)

Such a truthful post. I'm new to the blogging thing, but I see it already.

I was a bit nerdy and one of those silly overachievers that did way too many activities in high school. Learned my lesson there, will not repeat it in the blogging world.

Great post! I think EVERYONE that is a blogger or a fan of blogs needs to read it. I visit (and comment) on tons of blogs... except in those few times when I go MIA for a few days. Sometimes the new blogs I comment on take the time to visit my blog but more times than not... they don't. If someone has a good blog, I'm gonna read it/ follow it/ comment on it.. regardless of their 'ranking'. Great post!
Now I need to catch up and read your other posts from the past few weeks. ;)

Oh noooo. Let's stay far away from high school. Let me just mention I owned a CB in my truck. YEESHHH.
I hear ya on the blog cliques. I love blog hopping when I have 2 minutes to myself which is rare. I'm glad I found yours!
