The Exergen Temporal Scanner

This giveaway is now closed....
Congrats Rebecca!
rebecca said...
Wow. Right now we use a 30-60 second under arm thermometer. I hate having to take baby's clothes off enough to get a reading and then holding his little arm down. I'd love to have this!

Squirming, Screaming, hands covering their ears....
These are all things associated with taking one's temperature in my household.
I don't know why but my kids have never been the type to sit still while I take their temperature.
We have tried the digital thermometers.....
They act as if I am trying to choke them.
We have tried the digital ear thermometers....
They act as if I am trying to RING their ears or something.
They squirm around so much that is almost impossible to get an accurate reading.
THAT WAS THEN....
THIS IS NOW...

The Exergen Temporal Scanner thermometer

A little about Exergen Temporal Scanner:
The Exergen TemporalScanner™is the world’s first infrared thermometer designed to measure body temperature by taking a reading from the temporal artery. The patented technology employs an infrared sensor that accurately registers body temperature to within +0.2ยบ F—a much more accurate means of taking the temperature than any other way including oral, rectal, axillary (under the arm) and tympanic (in the ear). It is also the least invasive method, depending upon a gentle sweep over a patient’s forehead.

AHA!
Did you get the part about gently sweeping it over your patient's forehead??
That's all it takes is a gentle sweep. You can take their temp when they are SLEEPING!
I love it already.
Also,
The gentle scan across the forehead, reading the temporal artery, is more accurate and comfortable for the user.
No more "guessing" if you have the correct temperature (peace of mind).
When we first received the Exergen Temporal, I began practicing my mad temp taking skills.
I swept it across everyone's forehead (I even scanned the hubby's forehead!)
I am going to say that the readings were all accurate . . .98.4 and 98.6.
Photobucket
Fast Forward three days later and I got to REALLY put this baby to the test.
I had my first sick kiddo :Sigh:
Temperature was 99.3 ((DING DING)) we have a sick kiddo indeed!
*No, I am not excited about the sick kiddo part but more like excited because I got to fully TEST my new Exergen Temporal Scanner.
Guess what, folks?
The fun didn't stop there.
Two more sick kiddos the next day and this momma was in the temp taking business.
I didn't have any screaming or squirming either.
The kids thought the Exergen Temporal Scanner was rather cool.
(I think they liked the beeping sounds.)
Later they became even more curious because they were walking around taking temps of pretty much everything INCLUDING THE CAT! (Poor kitty)

From now on, we will only be using the Exergen Temporal Scanner.

Well, I currently take my children's temperature using the back of my hand or my lips, but I could really use a more accurate method such as the Exergen Temporal Scanner. Kudos to the non-invasive design!!

Right now, I use the "old fashioned" kind that you have to wait like 3 minutes until it beeps. My boys HATE it! It takes way too long. This would be wonderful for us, so much faster and easier! I would love to have one of these!

Luckily my baby hasn't been sick yet, but if she were I would have to use the "old fashion" way.
I'd rather use the temporalscanner because its faster and my doctor recommended the old fashion way to get the plumbing going if that became a problem.

I would like to win this because right now we use a digital thermometer under our baby's arm and she hates it and cries. The reason this would be so much better is because it would be quick, accurate and easy to use, and she wouldn't get stressed out any more.

I would like to win the Exergen Temporal Scanner because I like the idea of just swiping it across the forehead for a reading. We just have a basic digital thermometer that nobody like to put in their mouth and hold under their tongue. Thanks for the giveaway!

We use a traditional sublingual thermometer.

We have one of those bottom heavy electronic thermometers that you have to hold onto or the fall out of the little ones mouths.

I would love to win this! I usually pass the job of temperature taking to my poor husband because I hate using the rectal thermometer on our baby! The Exergen Temporal thermometer would alleviate that stress and help me feel more confident when the baby is sick!

We currently do rectal temps. I would love to win this so I no longer have to "torture" my daughter to get an accurate temp reading. I am sure she will love you forever if we win! Thanks for the opportunity!

I love anything that helps avoid the rectal temp experience plus I love that's it's so simple to use and at the same time very accurate. Thanks for the giveaway!

Currently we have a digital thermometer but it was a cheap one it seems to take forever before it says it's done. This would be a great improvement.

I use a digital thermometer. On my older kids I take it under their tongue. On my son, I take it under his arm. I would much rather use the Exergen Temporal Scanner. It would be quicker and easier. It's a struggle (ie. wrestling match) to take my son's and I'm always afraid that it's not very accurate.

under the tongue. And it isnt that easy I would love something so I can get in an out and not make my daughter be any more uncomfortable

Mollie G. on April 13, 2009 at 12:52 AM said...

"Poorly" says it best. My younger son is autistic, and tends to get very defensive about anything out of the ordinary. He actually bit down on a digital thermometer hard enough to crack it. This device, needing just a fast swipe across the forehead, sounds like a good solution!

I hate to say it, but we just feel their forheads & give some tylenol if they feel hot. :( Can you tell we really need this? lol

Hand to forehead, but obviously not accurate. Can only judge when to get to a doctor now! Regular thermometers cause much fussing, this would be a great relief.

We currently use the old fashioned mercury thermometer. This new exergen scanner would be great because of its simplicity and non invasive!

I take my kids temps orally I would love this because I won't have to fight my kids to get an accurate reading

Currently, I take take the temperature of my 7 and 5 year old orally. For my 15 mth old I use the armpit. I would love to not have to hold my child down to get a reading. Also waiting for a regular thermometer to get a reading seems like an eternity!

We still use a digital and this would be great to give our daughter who is haveing her 3rd child Thursday. With a toddler and a new baby it will be great to have one of these non invasive thermometers for her to use.

I have a 13 mo old baby girl that gets a lot of ear infections and with that comes the fever. Taking her temp is nearly impossible. I take a underarm reading and she skirms and screams like she is in terrible pain. The themometer rarely takes a reading from all the moving. So on to the rectal themometer it is the same thing with this method. They even have trouble at the doctors office. My little girl is determined to not get her temp read. This would be great for us. I can't afford to buy one so maybe I can win it.
Thank you so much for the opportunity!!

I use a regular thermometer, and since my kid is a regular talk-show host both when I'm taking a temperature and on the phone, it takes ten years to accomplish.
With the scanner, I'll be finished in record time, and she can get back to talking in seconds flat - - or talk right through it! How exciting!
