Shoe Tying....

I am going to put this one right up there with potty training. Ok, it may not be as bad as potty training but it takes a lot of patience.

(Something I am running very low on these days.)
I can still remember learning to tie my shoes when I was a kid.
My uncle taught me. I actually learned to tie my shoes and blow a bubble all in the same day.
Guess what?
*Now I know this is going to sound strange but it's true.
My oldest daughter learned to tie her shoes one weekend.
Guess who taught her?
My brother!! *her uncle if you are a little slow (LOL!)
Guess what else?
That same weekend my son learned how to blow a bubble with bubble gum.
WEIRD HUH!!
Anyways....back to my point.
Shoe tying is something I never look forward to. I would rather just let the kids wear velcro shoes for the rest of their life.
However, I know it must be taught. I wouldn't want the other kids to embarrass them or anything.
Tie Buddies makes teaching them to tie their shoes so much easier.
It's a mom invented product and those are always the BEST!
A little about Tie Buddies:
Tie BuddiesTM will revolutionize when and how children learn to tie their shoes. With Velcro and slip-ons the average age of children learning to tie has increased with some children learning as late as 9 or 10.Tie BuddiesTM offer children ages 3-9 the independence of tying their own shoes while quickly teaching them a method which is based around characters and stories depicted on the Tie BuddiesTM themselves. Tie BuddiesTM first offering includes one design each for boys and girls but rest assured more great characters are to come!
Since the BIG GIRL can already tie her shoes I decided to use these with the lil man.
After inserting the two tie buddies on each shoe, there are only 9 other steps involved.
It's kind of difficult to explain in words so I better direct you HERE where you can see what I am talking about.

*It's really simple, I promise.

Also, there were some suggestions on the website to use a little story as you go along. We used the race car story and that really got him in the mood to tie some shoes.
I am going to say that it took us a good 4 days to get this down pat. Which is not long at all for beginners. I am so happy that he can tie his own shoes now because that boy likes to take his shoes off at least ten times per day. Momma got tired of tying those things!
(I'll be glad when flip flop season rolls around.)
AMEN?
Now we are trying to perfect the double knot. I don't get it....
It's the same exact thing as tying a normal knot but he just can't understand that! lol
Oh well....
one thing at a time.
Save your sanity and buy Tie Buddies!
or just keep them in velcro for the rest of their lives....I am sure they won't mind.
yeah.right

I would go with the fairy theme. I just had to buy my daughter new sneakers for school. Because she needed a more supportive shoe. So we went with New Balance. Now we have laces to tie. I hope she learns easily. These would be great!
