Online Schooling

I've got a question for you homeschooling moms. Are you the ONLY one providing education resources to your child/children or do you use some sort of online schooling as well?

I have been doing everything myself (with the help of curriculum and computer software, of course). However, my oldest will be going into the 6th grade this coming school year and MATH is wiping this momma out. 

*Yes, even with the teacher's manual.

I've been looking into several sources for online schooling....

Online School Solutions being one of them.

I clicked on my home state and found out that there is a privately licensed online school, The Keystone School.

It looks like they offer a couple of tuition packages for Middle School (the one I will need) and High School.

You can choose a full year or half year courses.

Full year being 36 months and Half Year being 18 months

You can also choose the individual course plans.

Since we have no issues (at the moment) with any other subject then I think we will be able to go the "individual course" route. *MATH*

What do you think?

Do you have any experience with an online school program?

I like the idea of using online schooling as a supplement to what we are already doing. Actually, it may come in even more handy during high school years. Let's face it, Momma's brain isn't what it used to be.

The tuition amount seems fair and payment plans are available.

Like I said, we have been doing fine on our own but I do believe the further we go the harder it will get. I guess I need a good backup plan. (Kind of like insurance?) lol

I don't want to mess my kiddos education up, ya know?

I put the "ER" in TEACH

Science chapter this week : Plants/Flowers

Science lesson for the day "Observe" different types of plants and flowers in your yard.

As I stand outside and stare (pretty blank, I might add) I notice....We have no plants. We also have no flowers.

What I did notice? weeds

We have weeds.

We have lots of weeds.

(Some even smell like big girl's armpits *onion-y-ish*) Hey, those were her words not mine.

Conclusion: Weeds are bad, kids. Weeds are very bad and prevent plants/flowers from growing.

Pull every weed that you can see.

.....while mom sits here and eats 1/2 of this package of bonbons.

Oh wait, I just came up with our math lesson for the day--Fractions!

Hopeful

hope'ful·ness n.

Each and everyday....I am hopeful.

Hopeful that this pencil will need to be sharpened at least 5 times ...
Hopeful that this pencil's eraser will be so worn down that we will need to use an additional eraser...
Why?
Because that would would mean that this pencil has jotted down many spelling words, math problems, dates, names, paragraphs, scripture, doodles and so on . . .

This spider was also hopeful last summer.

Hopeful that the spot on this bush (right outside of my door) would be the perfect place to lay her eggs...
Hopeful that because the web was created right under my porch, she would not have to worry about the elements of rain ruining her home...

Yeah, she had a lot of HOPE there for awhile.
The web got huge.
She caught a lot of goodies in that web.
UNTIL
This momma (AKA ME) eyeballed a huge nest of baby spiders right there in that bush.
Oh, she tried to hide them.
I just happen to be the champ of Hide and Seek though.

This momma (aka ME) relocated the "babies".
I guess you could say that I helped them find a new place to live.

I had HOPE of not seeing spiders in my home last summer.

Dearest humans,
I have decided to hijack my owner's blog.
That's right, I grabbed the big black thing that my owner likes to tap on.
I proceeded to the bathroom and now I am sitting on the toilet NOT USING IT.
(I don't get humans but this is what my owner does so I can only assume this is what you are supposed to do.)
Oh, wait.
I have to go lock the door so the little humans can bang on it saying "LET ME IN!"
side note observation- How many humans does it take to change a roll of toilet paper?
Because there are 5 in this house and the toilet paper holder is still empty.

My owner has gone bonkers.
She hasn't been eating her bon bons.
She hasn't been watching her soaps.
She hasn't been getting dressed.
Her hair is a mess.

There are all kinds of books just sitting around and she's been READING.
She's been reading books with NO PICTURES.

I keep hearing something about "School Work".

If I know anything about my owner.....
I know whatever this "School Work" is, WELL....
It's got to be killing her.
It's WORK afterall.
My owner doesn't do "WORK" very well.

All of this work is making her too busy for me.
Also, these little humans being around me all the time is REALLY starting to grate on my nerves.
A cat must have her privacy, ya know?

She mumbled something about being "SO DONE" for the day.
One of the little humans must have done something.

She just told them that "Mommy was off for the night" and to "Leave a message after the beep"
