I aint afraid of no ghosts!

But I am afraid of other things......
Afraid, Scared and just plain petrified.
I AM.
and
Since you came here, then I guess that means that you want me to tell you all about these things, right?

and
Since one of the writing prompts over at Mama Kat's blog is "Scaredy Cat" then I suppose I can talk about them.
HOLD ON.
LET ME COMPOSE MYSELF.
FOCUS
FOCUS
:shake those heebie jeebies away:
Ok, I am ready.
I AM.
Things that scare me:

1. Public Restroom doors
(Yes, I know that public restrooms in general are scary.)
Scarier---doors with broken locks
And please don't give me that "Oh, I NEVER use public restrooms." speech because when ya gotta GO ya gotta GO. Have you ever tried to use the toilet while trying to keep the door shut with either your hand or foot?
NOT A PRETTY SIGHT!
What's even scarier---having your child hold the door shut.
"Ok, honey....All you have to do is stand against the door for mommy."
Kid- "SUUUURE!" "But who is that next to us"?
"What are they doing over there?"
"HOLD ON MOMMY."
"LET ME GO LOOK."
(opens door)
:Sigh:

2. Those security alarm thingys at all department stores.
To prevent a full fledged panic attack.....I make everyone else carry the bags.
YEP!
I don't want that alarm going off when I walk by....ya know?
SCARY and EMBARRASSING!
Seriously, someone could actually think that I am stealing deodorant or even more embarrassing . . .
toilet paper
I can't have that.
One time I bought some capri pants at Kohls because they were on clearance for $3.00.
Paid for them
Made it out the door and to the house
hung them in my closet (where they stayed for months)
But that one day when I decided I wanted to wear them . . .
Guess what?
THE SECURITY TAG WAS STILL ON THEM!
I debated taking them back.
Yep, I debated that for months and months.
Nah, that would be too scary. The alarm might go off.
Even though I had the receipt and everything I COULD NOT BRING MYSELF TO GO BACK THROUGH THE BEEEEEEEP BEEEEEEEEP thing.
I thought : Maybe if I wrap the security thing up in foil???
Yeah, it would prevent the BEEEEP BEEEEEEP thing from going off.
Nah
I still didn't take them back.
They have now been in the closet for over a year.
Cute capris, too.
:Sigh:

side note: BIG GIRL used to be scared of BEEP....only her BEEP was the smoke alarm.
(The smoke alarm sound when the battery needs to be changed.)
She must get that from me?

3. I am scared of my kids embarrassing me in public.
(Even though I should be used to it by now)
Kids can be scary.
That's probably why we don't go out in public very often.
My heart just can't take it.
PLUS
My threats and bribes do not work on them anymore.

Ok, that's just a few of the things that scare me.

I would love to know what YOU are scared of.
LEAVE ME A COMMENT
I LOVE COMMENTS!
Just don't mention anything scary like diet pepsi or generic mayo, OK?

There is nothing worse then trying to keep a public restroom door shut while trying not to touch anything inside the restroom or the door.

Take the security thing off of your capris and wear them! I mean it!

I'm scared of germs, being confined, and you.

I bought a jacket once. I did not see the little tag in it and went into the store the next day and it went off. I was like I did not take it. I just got it the other day.

I know you already saw what spooks me, so let's talk about you! What is up w/the potty doors?! And, I guess we can't go shopping together 'cause I think I may swallowed one of those censors since those things ring even when I go into the stores. Happens so much I don't even notice anymore until that "security guard" at Burlington Coat Factory tries to restrain me!

Yep Public restroom doors that don't lock are the worst or are all the GERMS? BOTH.

Grammy Suzzy on September 10, 2009 at 4:45 PM said...

Here from Mama Kat's...Oh, I am so with you on that public potty thing. And trying to paper the seat so there is some sanitary thing twixt my bottom and that ring that every germ and microbe in the world has come in contact with! Me...well, after six kiddos, there is not much they can do that I would fear...four boys have done just about everything! But, for me, living in the desert...snakes!!!

So. Scared. Of. public. Bathrooms.

Using public bathrooms happens to be an obsession of all 3 of my children.

It is a frequent blog topic for me.

I LOATHE public restrooms.

I am terrified of porta potties!

Whatever is lurking behind the fridge, stove, and any other pretty much stationary household appliances. Like seriously, I'm a mommy, not a freaking maid. Those items don't come out unless something serious fell back that that I can't do without. The things that are back there are dirty, sticky, and foreign to me. Seriously gives me the jibblies yanking those things out. *Shudders*

I'm a big chicken. I'm scared of scary movies. Won't watch most of them unless it's the daytime and all windows are open. I'm scared of sharks, dark water where you can't see below, snakes, and most bugs in general. I'm afraid of death and all the different possibilities of how you might die. I'm afraid of car accidents and being in a wreck. I'm afraid I'll never do the things I want to do in life.... and.....

aren't you sorry you asked? ;-)

I know what you mean about those security tags. Last X-mas season I walked in and out of stores and the alarm always went off. I kept walking and pretended I didn't hear it. I finally figured out I had some gloves in my purse that still had that stupid tag. LOL!

Found you from Theta Mom's site.

I hate...

-Dolls with the breakable faces! I think they're collectibles...but omg.

-Loose, wet hair. Especially if I'm swimming and one makes it's way over to me...ewww!

-Public bathrooms...yuck. Hate them!

I think you can remove the alarm thingy from your pants without fear. It only responds to the sensor in the store. A few of them have dye in them which will ruin your pants, but, hey, you paid only $3, so I doubt the dye pack is in yours. (That's usually reserved for very expensive items like leather jackets or fur coats.) We arrived home from a Reebok outlet store a few months ago and found the sensor on my husband's shoes. The sotre was an hour away, so I called and they told me just to pry it off with a screwdriver.

FInd the story of my one great fear HERE.
