Thanks for entering this giveaway!!

Meet Mew (pronounced ME-YOU)
Odd name choice? I know. I didn't name her. The oldest kiddo did. She's actually named after a Pokemon character but that's a story for another day.

mew1

Mew is a very picky cat.
VERY PICKY

She's the oddest cat that I have ever seen in my life.
She won't eat tuna.
She won't drink milk.
She doesn't want wet cat food.
NO table scraps...
Only drinks water from the toilet....(Clean, of course)
See?
She's odd.
She also only eats one brand of dry cat food.

Or should I say she USED to only eat one brand of cat food.

We've tried a few different brands too. Cheap and Expensive Ones

When My Blog Spark offered me the chance to review 9 Lives Advanced Nutrient System foods I was a little hesitant but decided to give it a try anyway.

The package came in the mail complete with goodies for Mew (toys and such).
I opened the bag and took a whiff....NOT my preference but HEY, it's cat food.
What can ya expect smell wise, right? lol

We poured a nice big scoop into her bowl and waited.
We waited a good hour or so.
She sniffed it quite a bit.
AND THEN IT HAPPENED . . .
She ate some.
AND
Then she ate some more
AND
even more

*You get the picture right? She liked it and we were all shocked.
She just ran out yesterday and I had to put her OLD brand in the bowl. HER OLD BRAND that she LOVED.
Guess what?
She sat there.
She looked at it.
She looked at me and then back at the cabinet.
She wanted the 9 Lives! lol

Daddy is picking up more tonight on his way home from work.

I am still shocked!

A little bit about 9 Lives Advanced Nutrient System:
A survey of feline pet parents across the country commissioned by 9Lives found that an overwhelming 94 percent of cat owners are confident they feed their felines the most nutritious meals possible. However, nearly half (48 percent) admit they’ve fed their cats table scraps – which do not provide the essential nutrients cats need – an average seven times per month. Additionally, only 30 percent know that giving your cat milk may not be a healthy practice due to the common incidence of lactose intolerance in adult cats.1

Additional findings include:
  • 23% of American pet parents think it’s beneficial to keep their cats on a purely vegetarian diet, while actually it may be harmful2

  • There are a number of foods that feline parents assume are healthy for cats, but are actually not advantageous to their health including root vegetables (73%), green tomatoes (54%), and raw potatoes (50%)3

  • Nine out of ten feline pet parents would be willing to switch foods if they knew it would provide better nutrition. In fact:

    • 92 percent of cat owners would switch foods if it would improve their cat’s health, and

    • 91 percent would switch food if they could add years onto their feline’s life

In an effort to educate pet parents about the common misperceptions of proper feline nutrition, 9Lives is committed to raising awareness to this issue by providing advanced nutrition for all cats. With the 9Lives Advanced Nutrient System, feline parents everywhere can rest assured knowing their cats are getting the essential nutrients they need to help promote healthy skin and coat, strong muscle growth and a healthy immune system among other benefits.

We're blowing bubbles today, Y'all!
GIGANTIC and ENORMOUS sized bubbles!

Introducing :

MEGA BUBBLE by Science Museum and Wild Creations.com

Yes, that up there surrounding the lady? That is a real bubble!

The Mega Bubble comes with an inflatable base that holds the bubble solution, allowing someone to stand in the middle while the bubble wand is lifted up over their head.

Contents: Inflatable base, easy to assemble bubble wand and bubble solution
The only thing that you will need is dishwashing liquid (unscented) and water.

We really enjoyed the Mega Bubble! It was a little tricky during the first day but that was only because the wind was blowing pretty hard.

(See video below)

We left the bubble base and wand outside soaking in the solution overnight and the next day the bubbles were even bigger and they held together better.
*The wind was not blowing either.

You can see some of those bubbles in the video below. (Very end)

I would definitely recommend the Mega Bubble.
It is a great way to spend time outdoors!

Momma's making money! ~Update~

I just wanted to update you guys on a few things...
I cashed out and requested my check the 2 days before posting this. Well, I received my check today.

It did not take long at all!

Also, after publishing this I completed 3 more surveys and made another $12.80.
(I'll probably wait until I have a little bit more in before I cash out this time.)

I just noticed today that you can also add the funds to an amazon.com account or request a Citi gift card. That is, if you don't want to receive an actual check.

Go sign up!

I've been meaning to tell you guys about Opinion Outpost.
It's an easy way to earn a little extra $$!
All you do is sign up and take surveys when they are available.

I usually do the surveys when my kids are doing their reading lessons each week.

So far, I've made $15.60 and only completed a hand full of surveys.
You can cash out and request a check after $5.00 (which was after 2 surveys? I believe).

You will not qualify for all of the surveys but if you don't they also give you an opportunity to enter $$ sweeps. One lucky winner wins $50 every day through their random click and win.
You aren't going to get rich through this program but it is an easy way to earn some extra dollars.

I was not paid to post this. I just wanted to pass it along so that you too can start earning MOMMY money! (It's almost time to buy cute boots, ya know?)

Heavenly Hair Kit ~Make your own shampoo~

Do you have a little hair stylist in the family? Oh, we do! She likes to get a hold of my hair and tangle err I mean brush my hair until it's beautiful. She's also started "washing" her own hair.
Uhh....let's just say she needs a little help on her "technique".
(Less soap and more water, if ya know what I mean.)
But at least she's trying.
When we received the Heavenly Hair Kit in the mail I just knew that she would enjoy creating her own spa right here in the house.

A little about the kit:
In this kit, you'll find everything you need to become an expert stylist. You'll make your own shampoo and conditioner, which will keep your locks shiny, silky, bouncy and healthy–you'll be the envy of all your friends. You'll also learn some really cool science that explains why your hair looks the way it does–how it grows, what makes it curly or straight, why it's a certain color, and more. Plus we have great tips from the pros on how to choose the perfect cut and style for your face and hair type.
Includes shampoo base, conditioner base, thickener, pink dye and fragrance, hair wrap, mixing bowl, mixing spoon, brush, activity guide.

We made the shampoo and conditioner with no problem. It was fairly simple. The kids really enjoyed it too.
Yes, even BROTHER came along for the fun.
My favorite part was the science experiments in the instructional booklet.

The fun doesn't just stop with the shampoo. The kids are also encouraged to complete scientific experiments. We have already tried a couple of them.

*You can see a little of our FUN in the video below . . .

Buy:  The Heavenly Hair Kit (by GiddyUp.com) can be purchased at select Kohl's, Toys R Us, Michaels, Wal-Mart and Target stores.

For more information visit www.giddyup.com.

Retail price: $19.99

For ages 8 and up.

Special thanks to Team Mom for this review opp. We were sent ONE Heavenly Hair Kit to be used with this feature post. We were NOT compensated in any other way. The above opinions are my own.

Give children a competitive edge through early exposure to sign language

One of the keys to surviving in a tilted economic system in which opportunities to achieve a decent standard of living will be limited is versatility – and the ability to communicate articulately in a variety of ways with the widest possible audience. This includes bilingual ability as well as the ability to communicate in non-verbal ways for the benefit of the disabled – primarily the deaf.
At the same time, a growing shortage of qualified interpreters fluent in American Sign Language has led to more career opportunities – and if current trends continue, it's likely that skilled ASL interpreters will have little problem securing lucrative employment in a society where such a commodity is destined to be in short supply.

Signing Before They Can Speak

A great deal of research has clearly demonstrated that the early years – ages 2 to five – are the best time to educate children in different modes of communication and language. This goes beyond the spoken word (though it is an optimal time for children to learn a second language); many young children have an aptitude for signing as well.
This is not as odd as you may think. As you know, many indigenous peoples around the world, including American Indian nations, have used sign language for centuries to facilitate communication with other tribes with whom they do not share a language. Some paleontologists and anthropologists theorize that Neanderthals – who apparently lacked the vocal mechanism to produce many spoken words – depended a great deal upon hand gestures to communicate.
In fact, recent research suggests that sign language is innate. An article published in the Boulder Daily Camera in 2003 presented strong evidence that babies as young as six months old communicate with their hands:
"...by 6 to 7 months, babies can remember a sign. At eight months, children
can begin to imitate gestures and sign single words. By 24 months, children
can sign compound words and full sentences. They say sign language reduces
frustration in young children by giving them a means to express themselves
before they know how to talk." (Glarion, 2003)
The author also cites study funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development demonstrating that young children who are taught sign language at an early age actually develop better verbal skills as they get older. The ability to sign has also helped parents in communicating with autistic children; one parent reports that "using sign language allowed her to communicate with her [autistic] son and minimized his frustration...[he now] has an advanced vocabulary and excels in math, spelling and music" (Glarion, 2003).

The Best Time To Start

Not only does early childhood education in signing give pre-verbal youngsters a way to communicate, it can also strengthen the parent-child bond – in addition to giving children a solid foundation for learning a skill that will serve them well in the future. The evidence suggests that the best time to start learning ASL is before a child can even walk – and the implications for facilitating the parent-child relationship are amazing.
